Every year the flowering starts about the beginning of March. Often these are not yet the flower fields but the crocuses and daffodils along the roads and in gardens. At the end of March, the flower fields start to bloom.
Many different flower fields bloom in the Bollenstreek. Below we have described the 'average' flowering period for tulips, daffodils and hyacinths.
When do daffodils bloom in the Netherlands?
The first bulb fields to bloom are the Daffodil fields. The yellow color is mid-March – mid-April one of the main colors in the polder landscape. The daffodil is becoming increasingly popular and the yellow fields are beautiful to photograph.

When do the hyacinths bloom in the Netherlands?
It is then the turn of the hyacinth bulb fields to color and smell the bulb region from the end of March to the end of April. Main colors in the hyacinths flower fields are white, purple and pink. During the flowering period of the hyacinths, the bulb region is not only colorful but also extra fragrant. The smell of the hyacinths can then be smelled throughout the region. Some hyacinth fields are picked around mid-April. The hyacinth flowers are used at the flower mosaic events in the neighboring villages of Breezand and Anna Paulowna.

When do tulips bloom in The Netherlands? Tulip fields are the most popular flower fields in the Netherlands.
The tulips bloom in the last flowering period from mid-April to early May. The bright colors in red, orange, yellow, white and many combinations make for beautiful photos. Dutch and foreign visitors love the tulip fields in bloom. From the beginning of May, however, the bulb growers start heading the tulip fields. They remove the flower from the stem so that the energy of the flower goes back into the bulb. These bulbs can then be purchased from the end of September.

Polder garden Anna Paulowna
The Poldertuin is a park with spring bloomers (hyacinths, daffodils, tulips, special bulbous and tuber crops). The flower bulbs are made available by flower bulb growers from the region. A group of volunteers, with the help of the municipality of Hollands Kroon, ensures that a beautiful garden can be admired every year. From mid-March to mid-May the garden is in bloom and the garden is at its most beautiful. The garden is open all year round. Admission is free.
