Do you feel like going to Texel for a day? From Den helder the ferry goes to the island.
Texel is the largest Wadden Island and has several charming villages & nice sights. The island has beautiful beaches, forests and beautiful dune areas. Another fun fact; there are as many sheep as people living on Texel.
Here we give a number of tips what you can do when you go to Texel for a day.
1- Rent a bike and enjoy nature. From Julianadorp it is about half an hour by bike to Den Helder, where you get on the Ferry to beautiful Texel. With no less than 140 kilometres of cycle path, Texel is the cycling island par excellence. There are many beautiful routes on the island. Cycle through nature parks, dunes, forests and meadows and discover the many cycle paths that the island has to offer.
2- Take a tour of the Texel beer brewery. Are you not such a cycling enthusiast or is it raining? Then visit the brewery. The Texel beer brewery is the most famous brewery on the island. 3- See the skyline of Den Hoorn. Den Hoorn is a special village. It's like going back in time. The village is located in the south of Texel and borders directly on National Park Duinen. From the Lagewegje you have a beautiful view of the church of Den Hoorn. Especially with sunset it can be really magical. Very nice to end the beautiful day with. (Please note that you will be back in time for the last boat back)
4- Ecomare. Ecomare on Texel is a nature museum, a seal sanctuary, a marine aquarium and a bird sanctuary. It is located in the middle of the National Park of Texel. Also learn everything about the nature of the wadden and the North Sea.
5- Cuddling lambs. A visit to Schapenboerderij Texel is highly recommended for young and old. You can cuddle lambs all year round. They love attention and like to be petted and cuddled.
6- Karting. Circuit park Karting Texel just outside Den Burg is the place for a sensational adventure for the whole family, group or individual. An original outdoor circuit of approximately 500 meters, where you can race at 70 kilometers per hour.
7- Visit seaside resort De Koog. You not only have a beautiful sandy beach directly within reach, you will also find nice pavilions, shops, cozy restaurants and bars in the village. Water sports enthusiasts will enjoy the surfing options.
And so there is much more to see and experience on the beautiful island of Texel. You can take the ferry TESO on foot, by bike or moped and also by car or motorcycle. From Julianandorp aan Zee it is 10 minutes by car and about half an hour by bike.
